no offense meant here, but if you are 16, love power, and want a mustang, this could be a recipie for disaster.
I personally have been a car nut for near as long as i can remember. I understand your desire for speed, and horsepower.... but concider this:
if you are new to driving there is a lot you've gotta learn, not only the rules of the road (no big deal) but also how to handle a car. its super easy to say "well, I'll take it easy, I'll learn to drive it before i get into it" but realisticlly, its hard to resist. i have had a good handfull of cars, first car was an 84 toyota corolla, then i had an 83 datsun, and then an 89 ford escort, followed by an 89 taurus SHO, and now, my 2001 mustang GT.
my personal opinion is that it takes time to learn to drive not just decently, but really well enough to realize what a mustang is really capable of. I'm sure that being young, and into cars, and into horsepower, you're gonna want to get on it, take some corners and have some fun. and there is nothing wrong with that, but maybe get something else, another rear drive car for 6 months, or a year and drive it around, get used to it, learn to DRIVE..... I'm not saying any of this to flat out tell you what to do, but just to offer some advice, I've seen lots of wrecks involving young drivers, and fast cars. it takes time to gain the ability to REALLY controll 260 horses, and at 16, i personally think you havent paid your dues enough to drive something of that power, its dangerous to have someone so green behind the wheel of something so powerfull.

RE: New and only 16
Welcome. I'm still 15 - don't even have my licence yet and I bought a 94 stang with the 5.0. I bought mine for $6800 and it was in great shape - just needed a wheel alignment. 93StangLX was right, Camaros are cheaper and faster, but its all about the Mustangs. You should be able to find a decent stang for under 7K. Good luck and make sure its a 5.0.
