Howdy!
Hey everyone, just thought I'd take a second to introduce myself.
I've been viewing this forum cor quite awhile now, so I decided to finally register, mostly to let some of the build threads on here know just how impressed I am!
Well, i have a 91 GT that has seen much better days. I bought the car a little over two years ago, when I returned home from my second deployment with the Marine Corps. This was a huge dream of mine and something I've wanted to do ever since I trashed my 90 LX 5.0 !
. . . You see, what had happened was . . . I was 16 and a bit too ambitious to say the least. I bought the LX for 900 dollars, and had such big plans! I ended up tearing out the entire interior, the engine, the rear end . . . all to not have the funds or the time to really put it all back together again
SO, I finally got the 91 GT and had the time of my life in it! Unfortunately I pretty much beat the snot out of it. After my second drive from North Carolina to Western New York, the whole car started falling apart peice by peice . . .
Now my wife and I just bought a new house with a good sized two-car garage - My Own Shop!. It's about time I get my dream car back in good shape. I think it deserves nothing less. And now that we have both a Focus and a Fusion in the driveway, I can take my time and attention to really restore my "girlfriend".
Funds are of course limited, but I'm a huge fan of doing everything myself, even if it takes a lot of learning, practice and time. This winter I plan on rebuilding the tired 302. Then in the spring and summer moving on to body prep and paint, followed by bringing the interior back to life! In due time, I should have a nice "Sunday Cruiser" if you will.
It really is a pleasure and a privilege to be part of a forum with resident experts of this caliber. Thanks in advance for all the help and good times that I know will be provided. Someday soon, hopefully i can pay it forward!
