Question from Afghanistan

For $13k you could build one hell of a fox body. If it were me I'd find one that's already a clean roller and do a coyote swap. If you budget yourself and buy a lot of second hand stuff you can easily do the swap. We have one down here and it's basically stock and super quick.

Thanks for the input, found a '69 with a 302 currently in it. If its as good as they say it is ill have my father go pick it up. Any input on how difficult it would be to replace a auto with a manual tranny?

If it's going to be a daily driver, I'd say the 60's cars aren't necessarily the best choice. You're giving up a lot of comfort and safety features to be rolling in a classic, however cool. If it's going to be a 'toy', then it's a much different story (and I have nothing against the classics at all, have owned and loved several, just don't see them being as practical for everyday use as the later models)
Given the ideal being a '69, I'm thinking an S197 GT would be a logical starting point. It has many of the retro styling cues from the classic era, all the modern goodies, respectable performance, and decent used ones can be found in the stated price range.
Still, if a guy really wants a '69, I'm betting a '69 it will be
