New to the forums and new to Ford Mustang.

Just picked up a 2014 GT Premium w/ GT Package.

I come from a vehicle that doesnt have the aftermarket parts market like a mustang has. So what are some recommendations for shopping? Thanks!

I have the 2013 GT/CS Calif Special. If you're not use to the 6 speed get a Barton shifter with bottom bracket ($350) or a Ford Racing if you want to splurge. All the engine power in the world won't help you if you keep going from 2nd to 5th (no cool pnts). Avoid putting a Boss intake, you're GT likes 6,500 rpm the warranty likes it and the dealership likes it. A Boss wants 7,500 rpm, sad face, warranty void - engine die. Give it some time then put a 93 octane tune maybe a 84.5 mm Throttle Body ($450) and Ford Racing (FR) axil back Sports ($700). You have a car with low torc, it will beat a boss to 60, all the after market tunes just take all the Ford safeguards out. Ford tune ($420) keeps your warranty. Get those mufflers they're worth it. Not kid punk loud but Bond like sophisticated. Get the LCA low control arms($250) beefed-up and add the relocation brackets (anti wheel hop)($150). I added the Boss Low expansion brake lines all 4 ($90) American Muscle (AM). The 13-14's are hvy they will wallow so I gutted the suspension. But will all the these you'll have a great car, around $2,500 plus labor. Your compression is 11 to 1 not good for Super Charging(SC) - your pressed metal pistons are not SC friendly. Also Bosses have different valve springs to handle higher rpm. What is your gear ratio - 3.73 is good for manual, 3.55 auto. Later

The Ford Racing shifter is just a rebranded Barton.

The throttle body is a waste of money, and the mufflers aren't going to help power. Not at this power level given the size of the piping.

CAI and a tune is pretty much the universal place to start. I have a JLT intake and a Bama Performance/American Muscle tune. I love it, major power increase there. Makes sense though seeing that these cars have VVT.

Mufflers won't give you power, but they all have unique sounds, the most popular and economical choice is the SVT GT500 axleback mufflers. People usually couple that with a resonator delete, and sometimes with a full on cat-delete as the resonators and the cats are the two places in the exhaust that rob power. The stock exhaust manifolds essentially are shorty headers, so you don't need to immediately run out and toss on long tube headers, but if you really feel like it, it's a place to pick up horsepower.

The Boss 302 intake is also a good place to consider. Stock redline on the car is 7k. I believe the Boss 302s wind out to 8k. The power falls off hard on the GT around 6500, so a Boss 302 intake will allow you to safely regularly run up to around 7500 without running out of power, and has significant gains in power up top. Think of it not as something that ADDS a lot of power, but something that allows it another 1000RPM of power before you'll need to shift to keep your non boss 302 engine happy.

Shifters, there are many choices, as stated above, and I'm sure I'll get around to changing mine, but I'm not racing mine like I was my GTO, and for now, the stock with a SpeedDawg shift **** is good enough for me.

Appearance wise, the sky is the limit. I mean I've had my '13 GT Convertible for less than a year, and it's pretty tricked out to how I envisioned what I wanted.
