Default Long time Chevy owner converted to Ford

Hello all,

My name is Kevin and I'm an AF O-2. Just bought my second Ford product last week...the first was a '12 Navigator for the wife last summer. Just bought a 2012 Mustang GT Premium and couldn't be happier. I originally wanted a SHO or MKS ecoboost but we found the Mustang and the price was right so I jumped on the opportunity.

I had a Pontiac Grand Prix GXP (FWD 5.3L V8) which was quick enough and fun to drive, but unless I wanted to dump a ton of coin on a turbocharger there weren't really any aftermarket options for it. In just a couple days of looking around I'm blown away by all the options for the Mustangs! I have a short list of things I want to do to it, mostly aesthetic: flat black 5.0 badges and fog/tail light smoke tint...nothing too crazy. I plan on adding the BOSS intake manifold w/tune and CAI sometime this year. Maybe lower the back end...

Anyway, in my short time as a Mustang owner I'm proud to be part of a new "family." GM has rubbed me the wrong way over the last decade or two and the issues I suffered through with the GXP recently were enough to make me cross over. I look forward to any feedback the community has to offer.

(Pics to come this weekend after it gets its first bath)

Welcome from Conroe Tx. You will find that there are so many after market options and Mustang parts places, it will blow your mind. Have fun with your new family member (mustang)!

I'm with you on the Chevy/Ford switch. I was a Camaro guy. Had a 70's Z28 that I drove and drag raced for years. So after the kids were gone and the child support stopped, I was in the market for a muscle car and immediately looked at the Camaro. I didn't like it. It was over priced, over sized and looked too "cartoonish" for my taste, plus I was sorry GM chose the 60's body style, the early 70's looked so much better. Ford did a much better job with the Mustang. One test drive and I was hooked. They're making a mistake trying to turn it into a sports car from a muscle car but that's just my opinion.

I love mine and good luck with yours!

Welcome and good luck with that beautiful ride! I too defected from a Vette 'cause I wanted a back seat for the kids to ride in.
