Default cam shaft sensor

Good afternoon Ladies and getleman, Im new to the site and have a question. My wife has a '06 mustang gt and we have replaced the camshaft sensors twice where we bought the car. The light came on again and we took it in. the dealership sent it to Jordan Ford and they told us its the alternator that has a open circuit that is sending feedback to sensor....has anyone had this problem, if so do we replace alternator? thanks for any advice..

Welcome to the forum. You'll get more responses if you post this question in the appropriate tech section. I'm not familiar with the newer stuff, but the dealers logic sounds correct.

welcome to the forum. That is a very common problem with the S197 cars. An alternator on its way out will throw the camshaft sensor code before the actual alternator goes.

You can either go with an aftermarket alt or an OEM one although you may have the same problem fairly quickly again with the OEM one.
