Default Maintenance questions

Proud new owner of a 2012 Mustang, V6, 3.7 liter, 6-speed, 2dr coupe.

Purchased this past January with only 15,000 miles. Current odometer at 21,000.

Brought the car to dealer for oil charge and AC recharge... Dealer called me to say...

Need new brakes all around, including rotors = $1,240.00.
Need new tires = $950.00.
W/W reservoir broken (knew that) = $250.00, due to damage, so not covered by warranty.

I am concerned that I would need brakes after only 20K miles; that I would need tires after only 20K miles (dealer said rotor thin and tires have dry rot). I haven't noticed anything wrong with either...

Looking for thoughts on this... thanks in advance!

Sounds like BS to me. I have nearly 75K on mine, brakes are fine, newer ACs almost never need recharging. You can do it at home for $15. Are you sure the mileage is correct? Tires should last over 40K miles on these. I switch tires in the winter and summer, just changed out the summer tires with about 35K miles on them and still legal tread.

This kit cost $400 and is a huge upgrade over stock.

Brakes are easy to install. Just need hand tools, a jack, and a C-clamp.
But the price is a little high. Most places would charge about $400-500 for each set so about $800-1000 total.

However, my 13 has about 45k and the brakes are fine. They usually last well past 60k without any maintanence. Tires, it all depends on the driver. You can through them like crazy.

Thanks, all. The AC was losing its cool, so I did opt for the recharge -- I'll monitor the AC unit to be sure it isn't something else.

Great advice and insights from you all as well. I don't smoke the wheels on this car (as I did with my '68 GTO years ago), so the tires should last w while longer.

I have a mechanic who can fix all the above, if needed, and he charges a whole lot less, even with OEM parts.

Added picture of my car, now trying to figure out how to include it with my profile.

Something sounds fishy to me, brakes, air? It's always nice to know someone or a GOOD shop that you trust to work on your car

I would get a second opinion. Something doesnt add up with that low of miles on your car unless you or the previous owner abused the hell out of it. The dry rot seems rather accelerated as well.

Ever dealer on earth says the same ****! There just trying to make a couple more grand on you. How much did they screw you for the oil and AC recharge? I have 68k on my v6 brakes and they are still fine!
