Default Low oil pressure light

Apparently if we are parked on a slight grade and start the car, the oil pressure light comes on. If you shut the car off and turn on, it goes away. Dealer says might be a sensor replacement needed. Any ideas on this one? 1996 GT, only 50k miles and well maintained. We just bought it. Thanks.

Assuming it doesn't go off after a few seconds after the pressure has built up, it is most likely a sensor but then you could just have a bad pump. You could just throw parts at it starting with the sensor or you could check the oil pressure first. You don't say whether it comes on all the time.

+1 ^^^

Get a good mechanical gauge on there and see what exactly the pressure is at. The stock sending unit for the oil pressure gauge were known to be, well, not that accurate.
