Default 1963 Mustang Rumor

Take it for what it is but a friend of mine saw a 1963 prototype Mustang in the backyard of someone’s house. This was in North county San Diego. He said it looked almost like the final production model. He said it threw him because it did not look quite right. He looked at the production date on the car. It said early 63, I don’t remember the exact month. The owner claims it was one of the prototype mustangs. All I have is rumors as I did not see the car. I know there is only one surviving one in a Museum back east. There might be two of this one is legit.

I'll bet 10,000 internets that it's not.
And welcome to the forums, hope you enjoy your stay.

You may be right. I will have to get my friend to retell the tale on how the car came about. I will post it when I find out how he got it.

There are several Concept mustangs that were conceived before the official public availability in 64.5 I knew about the one in 63. didn't know about the one in 62.

I don't know anything about the production prototypes. THere's a couple of pics of some from 1963 that look more like the 1964.5 release. 1st row last picture. Sept 1963 and 8th row.

Very cool information. I have not seen the car I mentioned. My friends have. Both car guys and both perplexed as to what Mustang that we’re looking at. It was just a rolling chassis. I wish to have seen it. The gentleman that owns it has more then a few rolling chases in the back yard. If I ever get by his house I will take a picture.
