Default Driveshaft Vibration

Hi all, I am new here. I have a 2006 Mustang GT, purchased the car band new back in 05. I have had many issues with my rear end though out the years. I have also had a constant whine coming from the rear end after all the work that has been done on it both by Ford and my personal mechanic. I guess I have learned to live with it but more annoying than the whine is the vibration I get at about 70mph. My mechanic tells me to get the driveshaft balanced however I was wondering if a one piece driveshaft is a solution that my fix the whine as well. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.

What kind of work has been done and what kinds of mods have been done? Lowered at all?

The care has not been lowered. The only mod is a axle back exhaust.

I read that a one piece shaft needs to be precisely balanced. They can have vibration issues
at higher speeds. The reason they went with a 2-piece was because of the drive-line angle,
and to reduce vibrations. But, if the carrier bearing is going bad, well then there is another
area for vibrations...

Differential vibrations are different. That can be the pinion angle, or the carrier bearing
for the pinion gear is wearing. If it only occurs during deceleration, then it is a good
indicator that the pinion-bearing preload has loosened. If under acceleration at various speeds,
indicates that the gears are already worn out or are out of alignment or depth with each other.
If rear differential noise occurs while accelerating the car only at a certain speed, it is likely
because the gears have become worn due to overloading and lubrication failure.
