I have a 2001 mustang v6 3.8 that has been swapped to a 1996 3.8 v6 motor. The engine cranks and sounds fine but my oil gauge reads low but my car has oil pressure it doest knock or tap. And the oil light doesn't come on nor the check gauges light.

Try hooking up a manual aftermarket gauge to verify, you may have a faulty gauge or a bad sending unit
