Need Help
New to this Forum. A couple months ago I bought a Foddrill Sand car with little info on what power it has. I was pleasantly surprised to see it is a supercharged 4.6 Ford. I'm a GM guy, but the engine performs well and the car is a blast to drive.
Long story short, I was out running and heard a light rattle, I'm not new to engines and noises so, I pulled it into the shop and dropped the pan and found a scuffed bearing. I caught it early, and have no problem with the disassembly/ Assembly process but...I do not know what it is. It IS OBD compliant and the Scanner shows it as a 2004 Supercharged 4.6 out of a mustang, BUT..I don't know if this is the original ECM for the engine..I DO know this..It is an Aluminum block, SOHC, with the blower under the intake manifold, I noticed a very slight weep of anti freeze at one of the head studs, so that is definitely my culprit. I've got a machine shop to handle the crank and I think I'm going to just replace the scuffed rod, rather than resize it and have to balance the whole assembly, as the rod suffers very minimal damage and I can weight the ends for balance. I've just heard there are multiple designs of this engine and buying parts may be a headache if I don't have all my ducks in a row and I cannot find any pictures of this configuration anywhere. It is a two valve head but other than that...I'm, kinda lost. I'll add pics to help any way I can.
Thanks in advance for any help on ID, you guys are gonna know a lot more than me on this.
Matt.
