Hey folks
I just picked up my second mustang. Decades ago I owned a '69 with a 351. Since then I have spent most of my time in the more unique realm of Ford cars including an XR4ti, SHO and most recently owned a Mercury Marauder for the last 10 years. All of those saw different track events with me ranging from simple 1/4 mile runs to more aggressive racing - the Marauder is bloody boat on the track! As my youngest wants to learn how to turn a wrench, I decided to sell the Marauder and I purchased a 2012 Kona Blue GT Convertible 6spd. I flew out to Texas and drove it home to California - what a blast! Simple changes occurred already, '13 taillights installed, shorty antenna and new front brakes installed by the kid with some help from me. Sunday we will do back brakes. The original front pads had 87K miles on it, and still had 3mm of pad left on them. I will not get 87K mile out of mine ...
We have also spent hours cleaning, as I originally thought the strut tower brace was black.
Lots of research will need to be done by my son and me, but he is going to learn how to do research work and provide evidence to support his theory on the following possible upgrades:
Replacing the convertible top as the rear window has delaminated and then tinting the windows slightly. No more research, parts ordered and shop identified.
New wheels in the GT500/PP1 style - current ones are 19" brushed nickel? 5-spokes.
Lowering it an inch or so.
Possibly a convertible bar and a pair of white stripes ... we will see about those last two.
