Default Rear support brace?! Do I need it?

Hi guys,

I’m fairly new to the mustang world. I’ve been trying to do a few small mods to my 19 GT convertible, but there’s not a lot of space underneath the car. My mustang has a rear support brace going from below the trunk to the sides of the car. Turns out these braces are only found on the convertible models. I understand their purpose, but they’re heavy and the clunky OEM brace limits the modifications available down there.

I noticed that Steeda offers a “Rear IRS Support Subframe Brace” that’s smaller and doesn’t obtrude as much. I does anyone have experience using these or some other aftermarket brace on a convertible?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

For what they cost and considering exposure to the elements, I'd sure keep them clean and painted I think.
