Default 2001 mustang

I have a 2001 mustang. I replaced the motor from a 2000 model mustang. After exhausting all efforts to get fuel and spark to the new motor I am left clueless. I installed a new fuel pump and know I am getting fuel to my fuel rail. I replaced the plug wires, checked the coil which is good. I replaced the crankshaft and camshaft sensor. The harness I had to use came from a 2000 model mustang. I had to change out the plugs on the end of the coil connector from harness to coil, the plug to the camshaft, and the plug to the camshaft sensor. Still no fire from the coil. I do have electricity to the coil when the key is on by checking with a volt meter. Will the ecu on the 2001 work for the 2000 model motor.

Which engine? 6 or 8? Understand first that the firing of the spark plugs is done by having 12V to the coil ALL THE TIME key is on. The spark is produced by the PCM (computer) connecting the other coil connection to GROUND. Thus, grounding on and off produces the spark. Not clear what you did with connections to the coil or camshaft position sensor. Wiring diagrams would help greatly.
