Hey all! I recently purchased a 2004 mustang v6 as a project car. When i bought the car the guy disclosed a trans issue which was the transmission had a hard time disengaging from 5th gear. you could pull it out of gear and shift down to 4th or any other gear and it would still be engaged in 5th. He summed it up to a return spring that he had taken out. The trick was to go from 5th, push over and down into neutral, leave it in neutral for a few seconds then you could shift into a different gear. I bought and installed a short throw shifter (the whole assembly) and now i have no return from either side in neutral and has the same issue with 5th gear just a little worse to where the “trick” isn’t working anymore. Anyone know what this could be? Anything would be helpful. Thanks!
