Default Door Ajar, window functioning, changed Sensor anyway

Hi. Just bought a 2005 GT Convertible. It’s a little rough, but I bought it as a project. My dash display says “Driver Door Ajar/ Please Close Door”, when door is closed. Interior lights stay on all the time. The window functions properly, goes down the little bit and up as it should. I changed the door sensor anyway just to eliminate that as a cause. Where else should I look?
Thanks in advance for your time and help.

Aaron, welcome to the forum. You should check in the section for the S197 for advice. Interior lights could simply be that the light switch is turned all the way to the left to turn on the interior lights.

As far as the door ajar, with the new sensor and the alert still coming in that suggests something in the door wiring. OR the smart junction box in the passenger side footwell was affected by the cowl water leak; very common on the S197.
