Default not a newb, but new here

hey, some of you might know me, but if not, here is a quick intro, I spent 4 years in a concors correct classic Mustang shop (and I will argue until the end of my life that there is no such thing as a 64 Mustang), I helped run a major Mustang forum, ran my own site, and I have had my 86 featured in Modified Mustangs.

Dangit Twister! I go and tell ya about this place and you beat me to signing up! lol

Twister's of the belief (and I tend to agree with him) that the "64-641/2" Mustangs as they're commonly called were '65s that were sold early. In reality, Fords own technical manuals and parts books back that up. The aftermarket mainly coined the term to distinguish the small handful of parts for the earlier built cars, as well as the owners of such cars who felt their cars were special (which they are, but that doesn't make calling them "64 1/2s" correct, calling my '74 Mustang that was built in the middle of 1973 a "73 1/2" would equally be inaccurate. (especially when the majority of the jury is still out on whether she's a Mustang at all! )

I've never heard of such a thing. Not saying you 2 are wrong in any way, because I see what you are saying. But to me the 64 1/2 is a Classic. Does this mean that the new GT500 is really a 2006 1/2 since its coming out this summer? J/k, I like your idea, but your guys' beliefs are just that, yours. Welcome to the site and ask any questions that you have in their specific section.

lol, close enough Matt, I just use VIN's (all start with a 5, the first to start with a 4 was the II), part numbers (no C4ZZ part numbers), and the Henry Ford Mueseum has the first productio Mustang, and they call it a 65...I figure if Ford calls it a 65, then it is a 65!

Hey man, welcome! Sounds like you've got your fair share of mustang experience! I hope you're willing to share it with us!

And I agree, 65 is the only way to fly.
