Mobil 1 works for me. Change every 5k. I know you'll get some strong opinions on this one. Search and there's already lots of discussion out there.

Let's start by saying....

Mobil 1 is NOT a full 100% synthetic oil. Read more at the link below to understand formulations of motor oils using different base stocks.

I would choose RP over Mobil 1 any day of the week.

I have been using Amsoil, but am planning to switch to Pennzoil Ultra when my present supply of Amsoil is used up.

By the way, I have absolutely no gripe with Amsoil, except for the price. With the cost of the products and the shipping, it's pretty pricey. I only leave my oil in for 5K miles. I have my own lift and I like to get under her every so often, ya know? I have read some very good things about Pennzoil Ultra, and also Purolator Pure One filters and decided with a 5K mile cycle, I'd still be being very nice to my baby and for a lot less money. Plus, I can get these products locally as I need them. If I was going to stretch the drain intervals, I'd stay with Amsoil.

I've been using Amsoil 0W20 with the Amsoil Ea filter in the Stang. I change it at 10,000 miles or 10 months, whichever comes first (used to be that the 10,000 miles came in about 5-6 months but I'm driving less so it's about every 10 months at the moment). I use M1 EP with the M1 filter in my SUV tow vehicle at 8.000 mile intervals. I typically sell or trade my vehicles after 200,000 miles and never had an issue with oil consumption or low compression.

a combination or both

I use this example to steer people away from Mobil 1 in the modular V8 engine.

Also, Pennzoil Ultra is returning excellent UOAs and I agree it's a great oil. I'm curious what kind of extended drain intervals it is capable of.

Why does it sound like "PeeYou" as if it stinks when we abbreviate it "PU"?
