Mustang Coming Out of Winter Storage
I don't know how common this is, but with winter ending, I suspect tips on first start after storage would be on some people's minds. I have a sort of odd situation. I got my 2020's oil changed prior to garaging it for the winter and subsequently experienced some major health problems that put me in and out of the hospital for months. Starting the car was not top of mind for me or my family. That has mostly settled down, but the car hasn't been started in 3 months, and I'm wondering how to gracefully start it without damage. I'm wondering if simply draining the fresh oil from late November and putting it back in would help minimize damage or is that not helpful or ill-advised? Suggestions? I appreciate any help here. Thanks for that.
Frankly I see no reason to drain perfectly fresh oil. Double check everything is topped off and start it gently, don't rev it up. Check real quick for leaks and gently drive it until it warms up. Your tires will likely be flat spotted and roll a little rough until they warm up, tire pressures will be way off from the cold.
No need to change oil, best friend…Battery Tender…worst enemy Rodents! Do a visual check under hood for critter damage, ensure battery is charged. Check tire pressures. Check for any leaks. Start her up, quick check for leaks and drive it. Warm it up completely, recheck for leaks, Enjoy!
