Default SPEC Stage 5

anyone use or know of someone using a SPEC Stage 5 clutch? i just ordered one today. i had to replace my rear main seal and i found my stage 3+ pretty much destroyed even with low mileage. so the stage 5 is good for 1100ft lbs and is designated as a "race only" clutch. im curious how it operates on the street...before i find out for myself. thanks guys

You can't really slip a Stage 5, it will burn up rather fast if you do. These types of clutchs are really almost an on/off switch. That said I do know people who use them in cars that see limited street use, but you have to drive the car right (don't slip the clutch)

thanks jd that's basically what i've been told and figured. the stage 5 is either in or out (no springs). i'm sure it will take some getting used to...people will probably think i can't drive stick the first couple of times i have it out about how long did/does their clutch last? i toasted a 3+ (good for 800ft lbs) in one season (spring - fall)....i hope this will last at least that long. the 3+ was a fairly difficult clutch to drive...so this should be interesting. btw how did your tranny swap go?

For most of these guys a Stage 5 was the last clutch before an auto swap, usually they broke other stuff before it wore out, but I would think you should get a good year and a half maybe two depending on how much you drive. My trans swap is going well. I have my old wire harness/trans/pedals/console and other misc. stuff out. The new trans and converter (Yank 4000) are sitting in my garage, I'm just waiting for a new flex plate and it will all be back together in a few hours.
