hey all. I need some help. my car is laser red and really loud. The car has a Mac off road H-pipe and no mufflers. Pretty loud. I've been told by some people that this is an illegal setup. They say I have to have cats? Any opinions? I live in Indiana.....love the sound, but I don't want to get in loads of trouble for it. Also, are there laws against cars like mine?

 

Why yes there are. Not only is that breaking federal emission laws, but also probably local noise violations. If your going to keep the off road pipe get your self some mufflers. Or better yet just run it open heads. ok maybe not.

 

You do need to have cats..Stang574 is right. That is a federal law, state laws vary. You also need mufflers too. Anyone will do, just pick the set-up that will sound the best for you.

 

thanks for the input guys.......I bought my car the way it is now and the person I bought it from was a police officer.....I thought if anyone would know the law he would. Apparently I was wrong......guess I'll be looking for a new set up....

 

If you want loud, look at slp's loudmouth. There are sound clips of it if you look around this site. I got one for my snake. Not too bad on price. I think www.LMPerformance.com still has them on sale. And do yourself and the environment a favor...get a catted h or x pipe.
