RE: Headers and H-Pipe.
a crossover pipe like an H or X pipe connects both sides of the motor in the exhaust system to improve the cylinder scavenging effect that the exhaust pulses in the pipes have on helping to suck in the intake charge during the overlap period when the exhaust valve is closing and the intake is already opening. this lets the cylinders get more fresh fuel and air in on the intake stroke to make more power. They are a lot more efficient than a straight pipe dual exhaust without the crossover as they help to build engine torque down low where you need it on the street. recent tests show that the X pipe is slightly better than the H pipe in this regards, but either is better than no crossover at all.
tell you dad that roundman says you need one badly in order to keep killing those ricers on the streets! LOL
