Default Nitrous

How long does a 10lb bottle of nitrous last? I was calling around for some prices on refills today and the best I found was $4.50 per lb...that sounds like a lot to me.....I was just thinking long term nitrous might not be so cheap of a power adder. I can get a 100lb cylinder for $180 at the local welding supply, not sure how much the pump is to fill my tank...but it would still be much cheaper that way....any way, how long does it last? How many 1/4 mile runs (to get perspective) will a bottle last?

they say a 10lb bottle will give you about 10 full quarter mile passes on a 100 shot.

I doubt you will see 10 full passes. but i'd say 8 with a bottle warmer, and about 6 without. this is purging the lines of course before runs. if you dont use the bottle warmer though when you go to fill the bottle up you have a bottle thats about 1/2 full so it doesnt cost that much. if you dont use the nitrous excessively it doesnt cost that much. i have a bottle on my dailydriver and use maybe 2-3 bottles a year.

It will be on my DD also...I don't know if I will be able to stay out of it How about the bottle being half full when you go to fill it....why? I understand what the warmer does, but it still seems like you would use it all. I don't know

once the nitrous gets below 600psi the nitrous does nothing. i dont have a warmer so once it gets too low i have the bottle filled back up. i usually only spray the vehicle at the track or when i am racing something that'll actually be competive.

nitrous here in detroit area is $2.75/lb

it's $5 at the track though.......

can you feel it ???? it's the equivalent of heads, cam, and intake if your jetted at 75-100hp

if your paying $4.75/lb, i'd wait.........save the cash and do the HCI later on......but if you have the nitrous...you'll always use it.
when you do HCI and have 300 na hp....you'll have 400 on the bottle and so on.

100 jets should last 10 passes w/ a heater and not wasting w/ purge.

i squirt 80, and have 7 full passes right now, and still making 975 psi w/ no heater on it. (it has been hot though)

the heater increases pressure, which causes the nitrous to expand...you use less nitrous for more effect, if the bottle is cold, you use more nitrous (denser) for a lower hp effect.
