I have a 96 GT 5-speed. Most of the time I go WOT from a stop it backfires almost all the way through first, but as soon as I hit second it dissappears. I have an off-road h-pipe and one of the 02 simulators has a cut in it, it used to turn the check engine light on and run super rich, then we put some electrical tape over the cut. That seemed to fix it, but I still backfires in first, should new 02 sensor simulators (mil eliminators) take care of this problem??

 

backfires are cool if you want to scare people. i think if it was the mil eliminators it would do it in all gears a WOT. it could be something lethal to your engine.
