Default headers

Ok ive been saving up for a while for some kooks longtube headers. The Kooks come uncoated and with the x pipe for like 1000 bucks. I was wondering if i shouldnt just get mac lts as they are alot cheaper and i could spend on other parts. Am i going to see a huge differance between the two headers? One being substatially better than the other?

I've heard bad thinks about the quality, fit and finish of MAC lts. You get what you paid for. My BBK ceramic coated lts were a little less than 500 and they fit perfectly, no issues except the head flanges had weld splatter, which I cleaned up pretty easily with a dremel.

MAC are not as good as BBK, but better than FlowTech. SLP, JBA, etc. are all very good. You can buy the kooks and have them coated. If you do, have them coat the outside AND inside.

im trying to find some headers that are cheaper than the kooks but with similar performance. If im gonna pay out the *** for the headers im probably going to get the kooks but if you guys can tell me something with similar power cheaper price id be really happy.

You don't list your mods but you may be wasting $1000. Brent of www.brenspeed.com says that headers should be the last bolt on mod as there are better and easier ways to get power and the headers do not offer big gains. With a 2v especially we are only moving 140c.i. of spent gasses per side. We don't rev beyond 6K rpm's in most cases. Brent has a dyno so I would think he knows what he is talking about. He's not against headers, just the order in which they are added to the mod list. What have you gotten so far? Thanks, mark
