Carbon build up quieting exhaust?
I bought a set of magnaflow street axle backs off a Boss running with a catless x-pipe(o/r right?) and the exhaust is black inside. The car had like 5000 miles on it so the exhaust has that or less and this exhaust is quiet. Like stock is a 3 and he Maggie's are a 4 out of 10 on the volume meter. Could it be because of the build up in the mufflers baffling it some, and if so how could I clean it, or are these things just quiet?

i doubt the carbon buildup is the culprit, i think your hearing might suck. hehe. here's how to blow out excess soot/carbon in the exhaust. floor it until you hit 6000 rpm, lay off the accelerator, slow down, relish the thrill, then do it again.

You might be right, lol. I had a few people tell me my exhaust is loud since I posted this. Pretty sure it just sounds quiet to me because I'm inside the car.
Thanks for the advice on blowing the carbon out. I'm amazed the chambers aren't silver again if that's all it takes. I might drive my car just a little hard more than I should, but hey it is a Mustang after all
