Default Too much boost!

I just have the v1 non-intercooled vortech kit with the stock vortech intake, no powerpipe. I was out running the car today and I watched the boost gauge the whole time. I am supposed to have an 8lb pulley. But when I got on it, the needle hit 8psi around 5Krpms and it kept moving until it finally stopped at 11psi when I hit the rev limiter. I tried it 2 more times and it hit 10-11psi every time right before the limiter. What does that mean? Do you think my gauge is inaccurate? Its a nice autometer phantom. The car just keeps pulling and feels like it loves the boost.

Well, it is possible for the gauge to be off, is it electrical or mechanical ? If its mechanical I have a hard time believing its wrong.

What does the pulley on your blower have stamped on it (i.e 3.xx) ?

You still have the rev. limiter??? They took mine off when it got tuned. I don't think it's really possible to put out 10 - 11 psi. Most people get 8 psi max out of the stock pullty.

Oh yeah, how did you get the 03 cobra inj. to work on your stang??? I bought them but had to sell them because of the t-style vs d-style addaptor.

It is a mechanical gauge. Has the little plastic tube running from it to my vaccum lines. I havent looked at whats stamped on the pulley yet. I will see what it says.

Well I figured he would have removed the rev limiter, but I was trying to see how far the needle would go so I wasnt looking at the tach and hit the limiter. I have heard of people only seeing like 6psi with an 8# pulley, but mines just the opposite!

The 03 cobra injectors were a pain. I should have went with 42#'s, but I just really liked how the little skinny blue injectors looked appearance wise. Plus, they are more than enough for what I have done right now. The bad problem was with the harnesses. I went and bought all new harnesses for it and wired them in place of the stock style adapter. It works great!

That's what I don't get. Something doesn't seem right...

Maybe take it to a shop and have them put their boost guage on there and see where it goes. That would give you an idea if your is faulty.

Was it cold out today? Air density has alot to do with it. On hot days I may only see 7-8psi on cold nights I see well over 10psi... I doubt your guage is wrong...

sounds like it may be your location above sea level or the air temp.
Was the pulley an 8psi for an intercooled setup? They usually have around a 2psi pressure drop vs non intercooled

It was about 30 degrees outside when I saw 11psi. I pulled over and felt the boost pipe, and it was ice cold. Maybe thats why so much boost? Will my tune compensate for the extra 3lbs of boost or is this going to lean the car out?[&:]

IMO, you should be alright. Do you have a AFR gauge?
If not get one so you can always monitor your
A/F ratio.

Could be a exhaust problem also, like bad cats.
