Default single turbo question

Is it absolutely necesarry to merge both sides of exhaust to run to a single turbo? Why couldnt you just use one side? Would it just have longer lag times?Like one side just be regular and the other lead to a turbo.

because you need and even flow of back pressure if one is running off the engines exaust and one is coming from the turbo i wont run right

one reason is that the turbo will have rediculous lag since only half the motor is feeding the exhaust side of the turbo. the second reason is because of differences it back pressure in the exhaust. you need to run the exhaust from both sides of the motor into the turbo

Won't work. Either Saab or Volvo tried it a long time ago.
