Default 80mm Lightning MAF

I ordered a Procharger kit with 42lb injectors, GT 40 pump, SCT tuner, etc. The problem is my stock MAF is not going to cut it (they say it will be close). Close does not cut it. You can get a new 90mm LMAF for 79.99, but Procharger says it will not fit their tubing and I would have to make or buy adapters. Since I only want to make 400rwhp, the 80mm LMAF will be a perfect fit. Where can I find one???

I thought all the LMAF's were 90mm's. The kit should come with the properadapter for a 90mm MAF. If not look at the DiabloSport MAFia MAF extender. Or just buy the adapters if need be and an SCT Big Air 2400 90mm MAF.

the lightning MAF is 90mm. All the auto parts stores try and sell you a "replacement" 80mm MAF which is not the correct part. The 80mm maf is not a lightning. Your stock GT maf is exactly the same as that one and is 80mm already. You need a 90MM FORD Lightning MAF and use reducer couplings to make it fit.

There is a 2000 80mm Supercharged Lightning MAF (they went to 90mm in 2001). It is recommended by Procharger (at least by the tech I talked to) to use the 80mm LMAF because it fits perfectly in the Procharger tubing. The 90mm needs adapters. The part number on the '00 Lightning MAF is XL3F-12B579-AA. The 80mm MAF will make more power than a stock 80mm Mustang GT MAF and less chance of pegging, thus going lean. I am going to try the 80mm LMAF and if it pegs... I will slap on the MAFia. I think the 80mm LMAF will be good for 400rwhp (or at least I hope so). I will repost when I find out if the 80mm LMAF turns out satisfactory...

You can just use powerpipe seals on top of their seals.

Thats what I am doing at least, You take the stock blower seal, put it on the smaller stock pipe, and then put the bigger powerpipe seal on the Lmaf. Then, you slide the bigger Lmaf seal over the top of both the procharger tubing and the stock procharger seal.

Then just clamp it down. Make sure that you clamp the stock procharger seal down, then clamp the Lmaf seal on both the Lmaf and the pipping AND seal, not just the seal itself.

The only way I can see this not working is if you can pop them off, as procharger uses a blow thru setup instead of a draw thru. But if you clamp them all down tightly it should be fine. Mine has zero leaks and acutally looks like it was designed that way lol.

sorry to bring up a very old thread but did the 80mm lightning Maf end up working with this application? I am turbo charged and i’ll be running about 8 psi. I’m hoping for around 380-400 hp

I didn't originally post this thread, but if you're running a procharger kit give them a call. They were very helpful with my kit and they improve/update the older kits to resolve known issues. Granted, thier parts can be expensive, but it pays to update the older kits to prevent failure.
