Offroad xpipe or test pipe

i was wondering if i'd be getting the same sound and hp gains if i were to either get an xpipe on my GT or just remove the cats and weld in some test pipes any experiences?

The sound may be similar but welding in test pipes will cut on your flow a little.

usually when you get an after market off road pipe the tubing is 2.5 inches rather than the stock 2.25, so if you get the aftermarket x pipe you should get better flow, if it matters????? it might
