Default more bang for your buck

I just bought a 98 Mustang GT and im looking for my first upgrade. Can someone help. Im 16 and have about $800 to spend. I was looking at the SCT livewire tunner, a cold air intake, an SLP loudmouth II exhuast, and/or SLP long tube headers. which one would i benefit the mostfrom and/or get the most HP/TQ. Im am also open to any other ideas.

thannks

Automatic or manual tranny? Either way, get gears first. It won't add HP, but it will sure feel like it. It will help you with acceperation and getting off the line. If it is an auto, then get a nice shift kit with it and it will feel like a new car. If it's manual trally, then forget the shift kit and get an offroad midpipe and catback exhaust.

The tuner will be a waste of money. And you really don't need the CAI either. You can just get a decent K&N filter that may not look as shiny, but will do the same thing.

gears are best left to a pro but not impossible to do yourself.

By "gears" I mean ring and pinion gears. Here's a set here on summit. These gears are 3.73s. The bigger the number, the faster your car can accelerate. But as a scarifice, you lose a little off the "top speed." For example, if you went with 4.10s instead of these 3.73s then you would acceperate even faster, but you wouldn't be able to go as fast. (Probably be limited to about 123MPH or so.)

They can be a pain to install because if they're not done correctly, then they will "whine." And the noice can get quite irritating after awhile. Your best bet may be to bring it to the friend's shop and have them install them. But either way, you should be able to get them installed for fairly cheap. Maybe $200 or so. I paid about $175 if I recall correctly.

BTW, when I say "top speed" I mean top speed at WOT in the final drive gear that has a 1:1 ratio. Obviously, if you weren't at WOT and wanted to shift up one more gear to the overdrive gear, then that would be okay. I suppose you can shift into that gear at WOT as wll, but it's not always a good idea, as I've heard of them giving out under such conditions.
