with a good tune you should be fine at 8-9 psi. if i am correct, all prochargers are sell contained. no oil pan tap needed

no all prochargers are not self contained - only SC units... also a good point is this ... the F1's are not self contained if that tells you something about using a sc unit

When installing s/c's, there are a few different ways to do it. I know with the Vortech s/c's you will have to tap into the oil pan, not being hard if you have the right tools. There are special drill bits that you can buy, which act as a reverse drill bit, extracting the metallic shreds towards you, instead of into your oil pan. The other thing that i am leaning toward is an ATI procharger. Look them up. You will be able to run up to 9psi of boost off of it without changing injectors, adding a chip...and so on. Now all these s/c's that im talking about are for my 99 v6 stang. Your GT will be a little different. Look up ATI prochargers and you should be able to find one that will be practically a bolt on situation. No re-positioning of the A/C canister, and i dont know abot yours but for the 99 v6 (Vortech s/c) you would have to either pull out the engine or cut the EGR line to be able to work on and reposition a few items, with the procharger i find it an easy install with a "built in intercooler" you could say. No tapping of anything...just a standard oil change every 6 thousand km's. Now that can be annoying considering you have to order the oil off the site...I'm sure one of our sponsors will have a link to some prochargers and would gladley send you some advice with pro/cons with all s/c. Unfortunately my car is highway riven so it is running 180 k on it...i was thinking of rebuilding the engine...or at least re-sealing it, and throwing some TT's together. There are quite a few different choices that you can go with. Happy decideing.

You should not have any problems running 9 psi of boost. Going over that i suggest changing injectors and throwing in a super chip. With the ATI (Procharger) tuner kit, all this would be included i think running 4,000 new. The standard procharger your looking anywhere from 3,400-3,800.
