Nitrous and boost??
Okay well, I'm building my 302 and I have yet another stupid question that hopefully all you mustang experts can help me with. I'm trying to build this engine so it can be boosted unbelievably high and I'm wondering, should I supercharge it or turbo it? I know supercharging it will give power throughout the whole powerband, but i'm dumb when it comes to turbos. I have a centrifugal(sp) supercharger on my 05 v6 mustang as of now. Basically what I'm asking is...
I know I sound like a complete noob, but I am and just trying to build the most powerful engine that I can. Thanks so much for any answers to my questions.t
What should I do? Supercharge or turbo to create more power?
What the heck is a blower? I know it is related to a supercharger..
What are those big intake looking things sticking out of the hoods of many muscle cars? (is it due to the carbarator?)
Whats the difference between the centrifugal(sp) superchargers and the ones that mount ontop of the engine?
I also plan on running a little bit of nitrous, an engine that is boosted can also be safely ran with nitrous aswell?

turbo will give you more power PSI for PSI but is also more expensive and more complicated
blower=supercharger
yes the hood scoops are to bring fresh air into the carb (if its functional)
centrifugal superchargers need rpms to make boost and roots/twin screws will make boost just off idle
you can run two power adders if your engine is built for it but be caeful because a 100shot does not equal 100hp on a boosted motor its much more

I may be a newb, but i beenstudying this enginefor years, and my experience is that with boost, dont run anything more then a 75 shot, also you will have to lower your boost down. my advice is to get a turbo and save the nitrous for intercooler spray.
a dry 50 shot should not make it too lean, is it made for intercoolers? if not you will need custom plumbing. only use a couple short bursts before you mash the throttle. it will drop temps and act like a catalyst to the combustion.
Nitrous can be run safely with a blower/supercharger. It's all in the tune. Just get it tuned by a good shop. Turbos don't take power to make power so they make a lot more hp per lb of boost. If you have the funds I suggest going with the turbo.
no doubt about it....turbo = big power
but it also = big $$$$$
a blower is a supercharger....just slang
a roots style blower sits on top of fuel injected car
the big thing you see out of the hood on old cars is the tunnel ram (ram air) for the old style blower that sits on top
pretty sure evertyhing else was hit on
