no...thats old skool synthetic myth
but theres not much reason to double your cost of engine oil....synthetic is good enuff....going royal purple or amsoil is just super overkill if you ask me
mobil 1 or castrol is just fine.
my changes w/ mobil 1 have shown goldish oil at 5k miles

I've uses royal purple for 5 years. Never noticed any loss of oil, oil burning, car runs smooth. I change it every 5000. It is pricy at $5 a quart, but IM hooked. Good tech article on it. IM sure there is a cheaper way, just my prefernce. NO, I don't know if the car pu HP fr using it. It's impossible to tell unless I bring it to the dyno . I know it's one the of better brands out there .
