Default LT Header leak/Upgrade Gaskets?

Gentlemen,

Need help. Just installed BBK LT's and I think I have a leak. I hear a ticking noise when windows are up. Sounds like its coming from the left side. Got under there and checked all bolts and they are tight. Do you think gasket is torn or slipped out of place. Also need advice to replace gaskets, looking for triple ply steel reinforced. Recommendations? Let me know thanks.

In response:

I like the LT's. I gained some good torque on the low end, but I think I lost some power in the mid range. I need to get that leak fixed to really see what its got. Please if anyone know about some good gaskets please reply. The tick is really starting to **** me off.

does it go away when it the car heats up...i had exhaust leaks with my headers and it sounded like it was coming from my heads...anyway i ended up getting the felpro gaskets from NAPA which worked great havent let me down yet...and before those i have the aluminum from jegs overnighted which didnt hold up with the nitrous...i also back the nuts with 1 other nuts to lock it...no more leaks

The gaskets that came with the headers are those craptastic paper gaskets. I just installed my BBK LT's a little over a month ago and I love them. No probs at all. I bought a set of Fel-Pro gaskets and used the Stage 8 Locking Header Bolts. Before you install the gaskets make sure you scrape all the excess gasket material off the heads with a razor blade. I wanted a little extra edge of protection so I Copper Sprayed the Fel-Pro's. Fel-Pro gaskets + Copper Sealer + Locking Header Bolts = Leak free. Do that and youll never have another leak.

The stock gaskets are just as good as the Felpro gaskets. Thats one thing that Ford has done right and thats the metal exhaust gaskets. I would look into a new set of those.

Thanks for all your help guys. I ordered some copper performance gaskets from Summit and some new header bolts. The gaskets were $30 for the pair, so they must be good right? I hope so. I'll post again to let you know how it goes.
