Length of purge?

Length of purge?
Im trying to make it purge out of the cobra on the grille but im wondering if the purge to is "too long"...i have the solenoid mounted on the alternator...thats as far as i can go with disconnecting all the wires??? Someone told me if can only be like 2 feet or less?
