Default help me with intercooler

im trying to find a intercooler for my car,on ebay theres alot of them and i want the procharger one because i heard you dont have to cut anything. I cant find any for a 02 gt. Also if i did go with an ebay kit what size tubes should i go with 2 1/2 or 3inch. I figured 2 1/2 would be easier to fit but i dont know if i'll lose any power rom the smaller tubes. Does it matter that the air is traveling through longer tubes,or is that not anything to worry about and one last thing i saw in the one thread about turning the supercharger to face down, is this as simple as loosening some srews or do i have to drill and tap new holes. Btw i have a vortech v2 s-trim

I have the same kit on mine and i would go with the vortech intercooler system just so that you know your not going to run into any problems, when you face problems with Vortech believe me its a bitch to get it fixed or even get someone on the phone from there. Believe me!

unless you buy a full kit you'll always have to cut something - if you just buy the intercooler no matter what kind you get you'll have to mock up the tubes for it. The cheaper ones are said to be just as effective - I havent tried yet though. Ebay has lots of good intercoolers for under $200.00

That is the kit you want. Put in an offer of $200 and you should win it. You will have to reclock your supercharger so it is pointing down. You are correct in assuming you take out the allen bolts to do this. There are 2 pipes you will have to cut along with spacing out the bumper support (I used 4 pieces of 1" Aluminum tubing cut to 1.5"). You will need longer bolts for that as well. You will have to make the hole bigger where the intake pipe goes into the fender area. All in all, took about 4-5 hours. Is a great kit, only downside is the psi drop over the intercooler. I had a 3.60" pulley at 10.5 psi. Went to a 3.25" pulley after the install and saw 9.75 psi. There you have it my friend. Good luck, it is a fun little project. I really enjoyed doing it.

thank for the info, its what i was looking for,so i should get a smaller pulley if i plan on this, what size should i get to stay around 10-11 psi.Or should i go for a little more psi,i dont knowwhat i could go up to before replacing the fuel pump and injectors again, i cant find my book that said the size of the injectors that came with the kit.

i found that i have 38lb injectors, if i get the 3.25 pully what would i be looking at before and after with the intercooler(for psi), a rough idea is fine. Right now im running 7-9 psi and was thinking changing the pulley for now and then doing the intercooler over the winter.

the injectors have nothing to do with your psi. I would do the intercooler and the pulley at the same time. Depending on the intercooler and the routing of the pipes - it will cost you 1-4 psi.

It's gonna cost more $, but I would get a paxton or a good turbo intercooler and be done with it. I have seen to many guys decide to upgrade later from a cheapo ebay intercooler I am using a turbo intercooler from www.modularpowerhouse.com

I got the 750hp one, but they have a 600hp version that is cheaper.

Later,
Derrick
