im about to install my s/c and i/c and was wondering how many ppl removed or cut out the center of their bumper support to install the i/c? and what effects came with doing the bumper support moddification?

You talking about the reinforcement or the bumper absorber?

Its actually illegal to remove the reinforcement completely... The I/C install on my 07 sits below my reinforce. theres no effects in doing the mod to the reinforce, except less safety in a front end crash. Some I/C's dont require a cut into the reinforce depending on the size.

heres a example of support removed. i thought i would just cut the center out of it, leaving the support mounts

well the "support mounts" are actually your rail ends. Mustangs are a unibody frame, the rails travel the full length of the car. If thats the set up you want you have no choice but to remove the reinforce. Just not what I would do. But thats my job is the structural analysis of a vehicle and safety.

I mounted mine behind the bumper support and there is better then 75% of the intercooler open to the air. I would leave it or get a new tubular one made.

+1, dont remove it compltely.
