Headers/X-Pipe Installation
Do it yourself its easy. I have the ford shortys on my 00stang. They say to unbolt the motor from the mounts but i did not find that needed. There is a trick to unbolt the tranny and slide it to the right and left as u install/take out the original manifolds, this makes it much MUCH easyer. So all u need is a couple of floor stands, floor jack and a good air compressor with a gun comes handy as well but not needed. Should take about a half a day to do. Also if your geting an X pipe make sure to buy some O2 simulators so your computer dosnt constantly say check engine all the time.
Make sure u dont slide the tranny to far to the right or left.... common sense comes into play on that part. [&:]

From what I understand shorty's are much easier. My friend has been working on his 97 GT for a few years now (including cams installation, fixing things, etc) and it took him a week to put longtubes on. He says if he did it again it would still probably take him at least 2 days with 4-5 hours of working on it each day. It really depends on how good you are at it and if you've done it before. I highly doubt you can put longtubes on in a few hours unless you know exactly what you're doing and have done it previously.
Yeah, I keep hearing the LTs are a nightmare. I have cheap access to an auto-hobby shop on base that has lifts and all the crap...eh, I dunno, I still think I'll go with a professional installation if I can find a decent place.
