Question about headers
Two questions about headers...what is the difference between shorty, midlength, and long tubes? And, can certain headers fit onto certain midpipes (I am thinking about getting magnaflow magnapak and X-pipes and was wondering if I will be limited in the type of headers that will fit this setup)?
With shorty headers, you can use the stock mid-pipe and after-market mid pipes of that size (full length). With mid-length, you need a special midpipe made from JBA or whoever else u'd get the mid-length's from. Longtubes need a "shorty" mid pipe.
Shorty headers are the size of the stock maniflods, except not pinched and more free flowing, and are very light. They give you the least amount of power (3-10). Mid-lengths I'm not all that knowledgable on so I can't help you there, I just know they are better then shorties. Long-tubes are the best performance header that you can get. Give you anywhere from 15-30 horsepower depending on other mods. Are a bitch to get in if you do it yourself, and a decent amount of money to have installed by a professional. But in my oppinion, well worth it for the noise and power gains.
Also: Longtubes will not pass some states emissions tests even if you have catalytic converters on your mid-pipe because of the increased flow and decreased heat. (Cats don't really do their job unless the exhaust is really hot.)

There are different x-pipes to fit different headers. As far as I know long tube headers give more power than shorties, but you have to decide whether or not you want long tube or not from the beginning because you'll have to buy the whole system at the same time.
