Nitrous
I have anLX with a stock 5.0, and I'm about to put a dry 175 shot on it. I haven't got an automatic for it yet, and I mostly street race, so I guess I'm gonna use it with a button in case of bad traction on launch. Running on 9.5" slicks. I dont know how important a new fuel pump will be. Just planning on installing a MSD with rev limiter/& msd coil.
I doubt your motor would last very long with a 175 shot with stock internals and a dry system. I would say it was not safe and you should go 100-150 shot wet. Just my opinion.I Have never had nitrous but i'm pretty sure that would be over-doing it there.
I would think you are asking for trouble with just a push button switch for the nitrous. If your foot and finger aren't coordinated exactly you will go kaboom. Let the full throttle switch do the work. If you lift, it goes off. Just don't launch at full throttle. Get it out of the hole then bury the pedal.
Also, I don't know of any dry kits going as high as 175. You probably mean the Nitrous Works plate system that is wet. You will probably need a designated fuel pump just for the nitrous at that power level. NOS systems makes a 150 dry but that's about it. ZEX is at 125 still.

Yea- the guy is gonna custom fabricate the NOS stage two up to 175. There are at least three stock 5.0s around here running 150 or higher on stock motors - no problem. Ill try and find the article, but i think it was Hot Rod that did a budget article on 5.0s with heads, carburator, etc. - stock internals, (1992 and older 5.0)...and they srayed like 250 to it. They dynoed it and it ran good. They said if it broke, theyd go back to the junk yard and buy another for $100. A guy in my town has a notchback with heads, cam, and basics with a 200 shot he's been racing for over two years quite often, stock internals, and it still runs good.

I only wanted a dry kit to avoid backfires, and a button cause i feather the gas in 1st and 2nd.....but I forgot that on my slicks i'm gonna mash it all the time and powershift every gear. But when i release the button it shuts the nitrous off right? I wouldnt hit the button on low rpm, so it wouldnt matter what my finger-foot coordination is.Hopefully i'll have the auto by end of february. Anyways, i'm gettin bottle in next week- so i'll let you guys know if it breaks.

I would use a prossive set up and add nitrous thru the whole run and use a 1-2 sec delay timer so when your in the mid point of 2nd you get a 50-100 shot and increase to 100-125 right after 3 gear shift..if your going automatic then it will be set up differently
Do what you gotta do. I just believe you gotta be more carefull with the nitrous cause i've heard horror stories and if I ever used it I would make sure it wasnt too too much. Cause you do not want to be on the side of the road with the hood poped goin
why not spend the extra money on the fuel pump and WOT switch? i mean, if you're getting a custom NOS setup...why be cheap everywhere else? most horror stories from nitrous come from people being cheap and not buying all the necessary parts. i've heard plenty of stories myself (most from ricer honda's trying to spray 150 on their stock civic), but still...DON'T BE CHEAP.
