Exclamation turbo 302

looking to turbo my 302. (shortblock)

basically assembling the motor myself with new/used parts
how do i know which rebuild kit i need?

need to know exactly what heads would be good for now.. (eventually want to go gt40)

which carb should i run?

intercoolered vs. blow through ?

the whole forged internals ordeal(which internals can i leave stock for now)
can i run a stock crank

looking to make around 400 rwhp with A/C

mind im 17 not a handful of money
sorry for asking a million questions..
Thank You

Wow I'm sure I'm gonna get it for this but what the heck lol!
First if gt40 is your future goal then the turbo is gonna go out the door gt40 and gt40p are dime a dozen easy to get so future plans should be skip gt40 go for better
Carb has to be tuned/built for turbo which is blow through
Intercooled is always a must and there is no vs since blow through is different than intercooled. It shoulda been inter vs air. Blow through vs injected.
Just run the internals you got cause the motor most likely won't last and loose it's mustard fairly quick then learn from what did wrong and rebuild
Or scratch everything do some researching here and every other ford site and realize you are asking way too much with so little

OK run the gt40s they work run the stock crank and rods I would run a forged piston other then that have at it just remember it is a bomb and could come flying apart at any time so a good tune is gone to be your friend. I have a customer that runs a all stock parts engine but the pistons they are DSS and a b cam with a ported cobra intake and unported GT40Ps with a P600b procharger the car is a full weight 88 hatch car with 410 and a 4000 stall with a c4 and a 27.5 in tall rear tire runs 7.0?s all day long in the
1/8 mile he knows it is on borrowed time but it runs like hell and is very fast for what it is.this is at 10 psi of boost at the intake after the intercooler it is set up to make 14 psi. it has been together for 3 years now. With out any head gasket issues at all and no more of a tune then I could do with a DVM and a timing light. He runs 42# injectors and a 95mm mass air and it is set up as a draw through for the meter. There are much better heads out there and keeping head gaskets under the gt40s is the main trick. But on the cheap they work very well with boost on a 302. But it really depends on $$$ and fast you want to go.

Not saying the gt40 shouldn't be used for the record
As a side note I would atleast run studs on the head and a nice thick gaskets probably still will blow hg but not as many

I got a customer/friend that just made 477/510 on ported e7's and a f-cam and gt-40 intake, that's it and of course the turbo at 12 psi works good for the money

i knew id catch hell for asking typical questions lol.. im sorry but yes i willl get a pair of gt40 heads when i run up on a good priced pair or if i find a better pair of heads.. as for how fast i wanna go its gonna be a street/strip car(barely strip).. i just have to build this 302 fast enough to beat my brothers turbo 2.3 fox and GM powered 2nd gen rx7.. hahaha but back to buisness i have a holley that came with my 302 but the only problem is i cant figure which model is and im raping the search button at holley and google. the list number on the airhorn says LIST-1850-2 3216.. i need to find the right rebuild kit so i can make it blow through if neccesary..

LOL, I hear you doing the math on Brian's car it should be right around 500+ at the flywheel then figure in the HP it takes to turn the S/C so it is doing ok. He has never been on a dyno but it wouldn't make big HP numbers any way due to the lose converter. Tell your customer to take it to the track where it REALLY matters.. But I have seen stock headed 50s in the tens with a small turbo with everything else being stock. Oh and Sterling's Cobra just ran 11.70 making 698 RWHP LOL but it did run 131 mph also. he has major traction issues as of now.. now the new engine is gone into it and it is gone on the Jenny Craig diet so I look for it to run in the 9s when it hooks and it still has stock heads also LOL 4V $$$ crap. Boy the locals are getting faster.

That Holley 1850 would barely be sufficient for a h/c/i build, nevermind a boosted 302. Its only 600CFM.

You have ALOT of learning to do.
