Default First Mods.

Hello all,
Last month I traded in my 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 and bought a 2011 V-6 six speed manual Mustang, I received about $1000 in equity difference. SO the question arises what are the first mods I should do. I was thinking a Bama tuner, Cat-back exhaust and a Cold air intake. Which order would be the best to get them in and just any other input will be appreciated.

im not too hip on the sixers, but im doubting a tuner will do anything for you.

i would say gears and nitrous, followed by a little exhaust

Great purchase, Kai!

We spent the last year building up our 2011 V6 into the fastest 2011+ Mustang V6 on the planet and in that time we have learned a couple things. The best first three modifications are Airaid cold air intake/SCT tuner combo which you can find here: http://bit.ly/vEziQF
and couple that with some FRPP sport mufflers which you can find here: http://bit.ly/tPdlQz

This will get you well on the way to beating up on 2005-2009 GTs and other unsuspecting slow v8s! For more inspiration and ideas, check out our youtube page with our 2011 V6 videos on it:

I hope this helps! Please feel free to PM me directly if you have any questions in the future! Have a wonderful holiday and a happy new year!

Thanks for the replies,
I am i better off by just going with the mufflers then the full cat-back system?

No problemo, my pleasure!

Yes, your 2011 already has dual exhaust and 2.5" exhaust tubing from the factory, so there is no need to buy a full cat-back system. I would recommend the Ford Racing Sport Mufflers(axle-backs) as they're going to give you the best sound/feedback without being too overbearing or droney on the highway. The will also fit perfectly and turn lots of heads in the parking garage and at car shows!

I hope this helps! Please feel free to PM me directly if you have any questions in the future! Have a great night!

Default Re-Thinking

I have not started any modifications yet but I changed my mind about the order of purchase. I was thinking that I should get a higher gear ratio from the stock 2.73 to a 3.73 or 4.10, which would be better? After this I was looking into an air intake, then axle-back ford racing exhausts. Following with a dyno program that I have a hook up too... any input that I should know before making any purchases. Thanks!

Kai, everyone is going to give you a different answer, but I would personally go with 4.10s. They're going to be the most responsive and get you the best performance. The difference between them and the 3.73s is negligible on the highway and the MPGs won't be that much different. If you want maximum low-end acceleration, go with the 4.10s.

As for the other steps, that's definitely the right idea. Just remember that the big improvement with a CAI is the tune that goes with it. Getting an intake/tuner combo together will prevent you from having to dyno-tune the car and will also get you the best performance out of whichever intake you choose.

I hope this helps! Good luck! Please feel free to PM me directly if you have any further questions!
