i want to know from yall,has anyone heard the original 40series mufflers vs the super 40s?i had flowmasters put on my car few years ago and saw they were black mufflers,didnt think much of it at the time but since then of course the exhaust sounds better than it was but not quite where it should be.i had other mustangs with off road h pipes and 40 series and they were loud and sound beautiful. i find this car seemed a bit quiet.just as with the others i have off road h pipe only exception is the other cars were 4.6 and this one is 5.0 upon investigation apparently the muffler shop installed either super40s or super 44s.now im ready to go back and have these removed and get the original 40s i really want.i dont care about drone because its a freaking mustang!i dont care about horse power numbers because the car should sound as good as it looks and build a motor powerful enough its all good.i want to know comparison between orignal 40 series mufflers vs super 40 or super 44.i love that traditional mustang flowmaster sound.thanks.

Mine had some kind of flowmaster 40 series mufflers on it and I had to change the catback when I installed my panhard/torque arm setup. I put a flowmaster catback in with super 44s and I cant tell a difference between the two. My brother's '03 has super 40s on it and yeah its louder but his also has an X-pipe on it and for some reason the 4.6s just sound louder.

i'm not sure on the comparison between the two you're looking at, but you could check out their single chamber (super 10 i believe?). they have a great sound too.
