i believe only the KB sc make the noise and ive heard its not that loud on the 5.0 version. 6psi is nothing for a stock compression motor. im running 9psi on 9.6:1 ratio with no problems. i believe the basic vortech kit will be the cheapest. under $2k brand new. or you can buy used

Well, KB is easily the most expensive out there, I would look into whipple. vortech and procharger. Anyway, It's safe for me to run up to 9psi on 10.1:1 pistons on my mach, so I'm sure you can pull 9-11 psi or more... Hell the cobra's are 8.5:1 :-p

F*ck it dude, 9psi powerdyne kit, $1500 bucks brand new. Will last you atleast a good 3 years, then the rebuild cost a hundred bucks. You dont have to tap the oil pan. Best way to go for the budgeteer in my opinion.

powerdyne internals are considered cheap by many ppl b/c they can wear out very fast and require service odten, many ppl i know with vortechs around here and a hamtop love there dont know much first hand about, powerdyne or many other companies

ok well think about it, most people average 12-15,000 a year. plus i was mainly talking about lots of drag racing or high rpm racing. besides, no blower will run forever without a rebuild. and when its time to rebuild an gear driven oil lubricated blower it is no cheap venture, or something you can do yourself. I have a powerdyne and have rebuilt it myself, with better than factory parts. So picture it this way, worst case scenario.

Vortech Setup:$2000 - $3500
Rebuild 10th year:$600-$1000

Total:$2600-$4500
----------------------------------------------

Powerdyne Setup:$1500
Rebuild 3rd year:$100
Rebuild 6th year:$35
Rebuild 9th year:$100
Rebuild 12th year:$35

Total:$1770

The powerdyne rebuild includes a new set of bearings every other rebuild because the belt will always be the first thing to go. And the vortech at 10 years is only if you dont accidentally contaminate the supercharger through bad oil, or the prior owner didnt prior to or after the 10 years.

Another thing to consider is are you still gonna own that mustang 10 years down the road? So make your own educated decision.
