im looking to buy a voretch s/c and i was wonder instead of getting the aftercooler, could you put an intercooler on instead? and if so would it work better or worse then the after cooler? thanks

 

im not certain on this but i think u can buy the non aftercooled vortech kit and order the intercooler from paxton....on any intercooler for that matter....but u probly will need some extra parts to fit them all in there.

 

yes you can. you'd have to fab it up. it'd be a lot cheaper than the aftercooler kit though.

 

it wont be a problem. after you mount the sc, mount the intercooler and then run the plumbing. if you cant tube bend yourself, you can buy pre-bent tubes and then cut and weld as needed

 

I'm looking at exactly the same issue. I did found the Paxton intercooler kit for about $1200.00 which I think fits my Vortech. I also found quite a lot of different aftercooler which fit my GT which range from $95 to $500. There are also some universal piping set out there for about $180.00. So if you have a little mechanical skills you can install a decent intercooler setup for about $400-$600 by ourself. And for how much does the Vortech aftercooler sale for ? about $1700 bucks? So for me no question.

 

there's places that sell different inter/aftercooler kits for vortechs for much cheaper? made specifically for a 4.6 engine with a v2 sq. i'd like a real inter/aftercooler made for my setup without having to spend almost 2k for the vortech kit [:@]

 

Are you looking for an air to air cooler or a water to air cooler? You should be able to use either one you want with any SC if you are willing to spend the time and effort on plumbing. If you have the SC mounted on the same side as your throttle body, it might be easier to go with the water to air. If it is mounted on the opposite side you could go with either one you want.
The SC vendors are confusing everyone with their sales names. Both the air and water coolers are actually after coolers with one vendor trying to use the name of inner cooler tagged for air to air.

 

i may be ordering the snow performance intercooler. cheaper and easier alternative.

 

Are you talking about the Boost Cooler? How are those? If you get one you need to get a new tun with it on correct?
