Default 255~275 on stock rims?

saw a nice looking tire at tirerack.com - general grabber UHP (light truck tire) chart says the 275-55-vr17 fits 7.5~9.5 rim, would gain about .9" sidewall height, which I think would fill the wheelwell without lowering the car(and lose some effective rear end ratio too).

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=2

just wondered if anyone out there had ran either the 255-60-17 or 275-55-17 (almost same OD- 28.9/29 vs much smaller 27.1 stock 235-55-17). I think filling the wheelwell would look good, and like the look of the tread on these- opinions?

275 should fit on an 8" wheel. I know a guy running 275/40/17 on stock 17X8 bullets.

I'm running 275-50-17's on the back of my car on stock Ford 17x8 wheels. If you go to an even taller tire your going to cut your gear ratio even more, something to consider.

Retro--

Do you have any close-up pics of your tires on stock 17's? Maybe a 3/4 side view and a rear view?

Thanks

I just got some 195/65/15 sumitomos for my wifes pt cruiser. Nice tire for $48 each. I just wanted to say that tirerack.com rocks! I only buy tires from them now and have my local mom and pop garage install them.

I like that tread pattern.

Retro, what brand are those? As soon as I can drug up my wife, I NEED something wider than my 235s. Actually, working anesthesia may make that possible...hmmm

They are Falken Zeix. They are listed as sport truck tires. I bought them becasuse they kinda have the same thread design as my front P-zeros only alittle more aggressive looking. I feel that they have helped to fill up the rear wheelwell without lowering the car. I have had no problems with them and they run quite. I bought them from Vulcan Tire, they were the cheapest even with shipping.
