Have you changed out your LCA's from Spohn to BMR? If so, why? I'm doing suspension mods next and adjustable LCA's are first on the list. Thanks.

I have the BMR "combo" type adjustable LCAs, poly one end, spherical on the other end. BMR's part number TCA 021.

Its not all about the drop. The car doesn't "leap frog" as much with the Roush springs. It is not as bouncy. I have the BMR Poly LCA's and it felt like I installed huge rear tires. I could not believe the difference the LCAs made.

Sorry about that, my earlier post was a mistake. I have the Spohn panhard and the BMR LCAs.

As a side note, the BMR and Spohn adjustable LCAs are basically identical. If you had a pair side-by-side and took the stickers off, I doubt that anyone could tell them apart.

would you need an LCA relocation bracket if you're only dropping the rear 1"? just evening it out, all you would need to do is LCA and Panhard bar correct?

That sounds right to me. The LCA relocation brackets are an optional part with that mild of a drop. If you drag race, you might consider getting a set simply becasue of the added traction benefits, but it's not a "required" mod.

so dropping your LCA essentially does what with that mild of a drop? if its a traction finder, then its worth it right?

The LCA mounting brackets lower the rearward end (axle end) of the LCAs. This makes them sit at a steeper angle, which in turn adjusts the instant center of the car. Google for "instant center" and you'll find a lot more information than I can write down here...

In a nutshell: On a stock mustang, the LCA looks pretty close to level from front-to back. It actually has a slight angle to it, where the front is "higher" than the back. When you launch, the force from the axle is transferred through the LCA. The steeper this angle is, the more the LCA will try to force the front end of the car up (and consequently, the rear axle DOWN). This helps plant the tires and is good for takeoffs.

If you lower the car a lot, or if you install larger OD rear tires, then you end up making the LCA lean the OTHER way (where the rear is higher than the front). This has the opposite effect, and makes traction worse at launch. You can use the LCA relocation brackets to "fix" this and restore the correct LCA angle (or make it more agressive than stock).

just saw at brenspeed the bmr relocation brackets... these just bolt on where the old brackets are right??
or is it needed to weld this?? i read somewhere that they should be welded for maximum effect.

anyone??

They bolt onto and "Extend" the factory bracket on the rear axle.

BMR's web site says they can be either welded or bolted in. They recommend welding if HP levels (or was it ETs? I can't remember) exceed a certain point. So basically, bolt-in is OK for mild applications, but welding is needed for more serious ones.

I welded mine in. The welding is simple. It was acutally more of a pain to grind off the powdercoating than it was to weld them in place.

Personally, I would have them welded in just for the utmost safety and stiffness. Any decent shop can do that in less than an hour.
