thats the exact rim I got, Tires arnt cheap when you get 285/40/18's "my rear tire size" Plan on spending about $400-$600 for a pair "2" of tires. thats why I staggered 265/50/17 "are my front" Save some money besides your just gonna burn them up anyways

Ill wait for a cheeky comment about my car. this is what the rear deep dish and the front normal dish look like on my mustang

Ummm.....I have the same wheels and bought 245/40/18 for the front and 275/35/18 for the rear and paid $600 from tire rack to my door. It cost me $80 to have them put on. Best of all the $600 was tax free. I bought the BF Goodrich G-force Sports. They are ranked #5 in their class.

Newb question: Can someone explain what the different numbers mean from 245/40/18? Is there an area in the forum where all these newb questions are answered? I'd love to just know everything.

Hey you have a nice car but the Gt badges gotta go, thats pretty gay, LOL! And just replace the Gt badges with the Pony package badges if you already put holes in your fender the Pony package emblems are a direct replacement to the Gt badges.

Hey enorym
Is that invite addressed to all?

We might be headed that way sometime....
Don't let the stock appearance get the best of you! Yes one can see it's lowered and it's got 20's w/255/35's in front and 285/30's in rear, but you can't see is where the real money is: upgraded staybars F/R, adj LCA, pan hard bar, DSpec struts w/ Eibach pro springs, Saleen VI series Supercharger w/ upgrade kit, 3.6" blower pulley making just over 10 lbs of boost, JDM CAI and tune, all makin right @ 540 hp @ the crank and set up to road race. (legally of course and with a different tire and wheel combo) It really needs the upgrade front and rear brake kit now! 05SDI

David the numbers on the side of a tire are fairly straight forward.
The 245/40/18 on the side of the tire means it's (treadwidth/aspect ratio/ rim size) therefore this tire should measure 245mm wide / the side wall (ground to rim measurement) will be 40% of the treadwidth on a 18 rim. Not all tire companies measure their tires exactly the same but it's a good rule of thumb. So a 245/40/18 tire may actually have the same roll out (outside diameter) as a tire say 245/30/20 I do know my 255/35/20 front tires are almost the exact same height as my rear tires that are 285/30/20 but the rears are over 2 inches wider! See pic stock pirelli 235/55/17 vs 255/35/20 vs 285/30/20. On the road there is NO comparison the 20's corner MUCH better but ride suffers on Railroad crossing and sharp bumps like that. 05SDI
